An Apache AH-64E attack helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made an emergency landing on Friday in the Nangalpur area of Punjab&rsquo;s Pathankot district following a suspected technical issue.
The helicopter was on a routine training sortie when the glitch was detected. Both the pilot and co-pilot landed the aircraft safely. No injuries or damage to civilian property were reported.
Military personnel promptly secured the site, and a technical team has been dispatched to inspect the helicopter. Neither the IAF nor local authorities have released an official statement on the nature of the malfunction, citing operational security.
This marks the second such incident involving an Apache helicopter this month. On June 6, another Apache made a precautionary landing in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Saharanpur due to similar concerns. That flight also ended safely.
The IAF inducted the advanced AH-64E Apaches in 2019 to replace the aging Soviet-era Mi-25/35 gunships. Based at the 125 Helicopter Squadron in Pathankot, these helicopters are vital for high-altitude operations and have been deployed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) since the 2020 border standoff with China.
Emergency landings are a standard safety measure to prevent accidents when technical anomalies are detected mid-flight.

Aishwarya Toshniwal from Akola district in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, who is a second-year student at the BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar area of Ahmedabad, narrowly escaped the Air India plane crash.&nbsp;
Toshniwal said, "This was the most terrifying experience of my life, which I will never forget."
She saved her life by pulling herself out of the smoke from the fifth floor and wrapping a blanket around herself.
Toshniwal, a resident of Durga Chowk in Akola, was sleeping on the fifth floor of the second building of the hostel when the accident occurred.
Suddenly, there was a loud noise and smoke billowed everywhere. 
Despite that, Toshniwal managed to save her life by making her way through the thick smoke.
One of the family members of Toshniwal from Akola said, "Aishwarya is studying in the second year of DM Oncopathology at Gujarat Cancer Research Institute Medical College, Ahmedabad. She had returned to Ahmedabad from Akola after celebrating her grandfather's birthday. She was suddenly woken up by a loud noise while sleeping."
"When she woke up, there was smoke everywhere. Realising the seriousness of the situation, Aishwarya wrapped herself in a blanket and saved her life by finding a way through the darkness and smoke and coming down from the fifth floor. Aishwarya had burn marks on her face, hands and legs," the family member said.
In a panic, Aishwarya immediately called her father, Amol Toshniwal, who was at his saree shop in Durga Chowk, Akola, at that time. 
As soon as he received his daughter's call, he was shocked and closed the shop and immediately went home.
Amol Toshniwal said, "We were shocked when we saw the news on TV. But by the grace of God, our daughter survived such a big accident."
Aishwarya's mother, Madhuri Toshniwal and her grandparents thanked God amid tears.
The grandfather said, "Our granddaughter had come for my birthday, but she had to face such an accident. I thank God a hundred times that she is safe."
The shocked Toshniwal family has expressed their condolences to those injured and killed in the accident.

In Gadarwara town of Narsinghpur district, three workers were electrocuted around 11 a.m. when a metal ladder they were moving near a &lsquo;Marriage Garden&rsquo; on Jamada Road accidentally touched an 11 kV overhead power line. Eyewitnesses reported smoke rising from the victims due to the high-voltage shock.
The deceased were identified as Piyush (26), Rajesh Pali (32), and Puran Jatav (36). Two injured individuals were hospitalized, with one in critical condition.
The incident sparked public outrage, with residents blaming the electricity department for failing to insulate the high-tension line running dangerously close to the venue.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced ₹2 lakh compensation for each deceased worker&rsquo;s family and ₹50,000 for the injured. An investigation has been ordered, and senior electricity officials have visited the site.
In a separate incident in Burhanpur, eight-year-old Purvi Barkane died after touching a live wire while playing near a damaged house. Two other girls, Shivani (6) and Rishika, were rescued with injuries.
Both incidents have raised serious concerns about electrical safety measures and the accountability of authorities in preventing such fatal mishaps.

The India-UK Free Trade Agreement, which eliminates tariffs on 99% of Indian exports to the UK and 90% of UK exports to India, will unlock 25.5 billion pounds in additional trade value, according to UK Trade Commissioner for South Asia Harjinder Kang.&nbsp;
Participating in a panel discussion here, he said: "This agreement is not just a trade deal; it is a blueprint for the next chapter of UK-India economic cooperation. With 43 billion pounds in existing trade and 25.5 billion pounds in incremental upside, it opens doors to real gains for manufacturers and services providers alike.&rdquo;
Kang, who is also the Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, revealed the next steps: legal scrubbing, Prime Ministerial signing, parliamentary ratification (expected in 9&ndash;12 months), and staggered implementation. 
He affirmed that services liberalisation, auto tariffs (with quotas), and "a future-ready tech-security corridor&rdquo; were built into the agreement, with potential expansion into sectors like pharma, semiconductors, and green tech.
Detailing the contours of the FTA, he said that under the India-UK FTA, 99% of Indian goods to the UK and 90% of UK goods to India will become tariff-free.
The UK&rsquo;s peak tariff on whisky will reduce from 150% to 40% over 10 years. 
The CBAM (carbon border adjustment mechanism) is not part of the India&ndash;UK FTA, reassuring Indian industry that carbon taxes will not affect bilateral trade terms under this agreement, he explained.
There will also be a significant liberalisation in services under the FTA, with 36 sectors under Contractual Service Suppliers and 16 under Independent Professionals, including IT, R&amp;amp;D, chefs, yoga instructors, and musicians.
Alongside the FTA, the UK and India have agreed to negotiate a reciprocal DCC, which will mean employees temporarily working in the other country for up to three years will continue paying social security contributions only in their home country, Kang added.
According to Amisha Vora, Chairperson &amp;amp; MD, PL Capital, 72% of India&rsquo;s exports to the UK - including electronics, fuels, chemicals, textiles, and apparel - run a trade surplus, positioning sectors like auto components, engineering goods, and textiles for a meaningful upside.
Emphasising the FTA&rsquo;s services dimension at a panel discussion, she highlighted India&rsquo;s $18 billion in services exports to the UK, the second-largest after the US, and underscored the increased mobility for Indian IT, creative, and professional talent as a soft power and services export amplifier.
From a macro lens, she framed the deal as reflective of two decisive shifts: Britain&rsquo;s post-Brexit diversification away from China toward democratic demand, and India&rsquo;s effort to anchor deeper into rules-based, like-minded economies without ceding regulatory sovereignty.
Anuj Agarwal, chief economist at Welspun Group, highlighted the opportunity in the textiles sector: "The sector is 2.3% of India&rsquo;s GDP, 12&ndash;13% of industrial output, and employs 45 million people. But our UK exports are only $1.5 billion&mdash;far below Bangladesh and Vietnam. This FTA gives India a fair shot at reclaiming its share. The tariff timelines will determine the pace of investment response. However, if the reductions are staggered too long, industry excitement may mellow down."

India's stock market has outperformed global peers with a stellar 18% annualised return in US dollar terms over the last five years, according to a report by Bandhan Mutual Fund. This return surpasses the 12% gains of world and developed markets and is over four times higher than those of other emerging economies.
In contrast, China&rsquo;s markets fell by 2% in May 2025, making it one of the worst-performing major economies for the month.
India&rsquo;s outperformance was led by small-cap stocks, which have consistently outshone other segments since March 2020. Mid-caps followed closely, while large-caps lagged, indicating increasing domestic investor participation and appetite for risk.
From March to May 2025, Indian equities surged by 16%, significantly outperforming emerging markets (5%) and developed markets (2%).
Key performing sectors in May included industrials, capital goods, and telecom, driven by strong earnings and favourable policies. Meanwhile, FMCG, healthcare, and IT saw modest gains; metal stocks slipped slightly, and utilities remained unchanged.
On the macroeconomic front, India&rsquo;s Services PMI rose in May, signalling a rebound in the services sector, although the Manufacturing PMI saw a minor dip.
Supportive macro indicators such as a weakening US dollar, softening domestic interest rates, strong earnings, and meeting the fiscal deficit target of 4.8% of GDP for FY25 added to investor confidence. The target for FY26 is set at an improved 4.4%.
Inflation showed positive trends, with food inflation falling for six straight months, although core inflation edged up slightly.

People from both communities thereafter met, and the peace committee also held discussions, and it seemed to have resolved. But the next day, another cow head was kept in the premises. Then there was a stone pelting incident too. Moreover, there were posters to include Dhubri as part of Bangladesh that were pasted here. A communal group has been active here to spread unrest, and we have adopted a zero tolerance policy against the same.&rdquo;
The Chief Minister also said that the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and, CRPF will also be sent to Dhubri on Friday. He mentioned that pending cases against criminals will be proceeded with, and proper actions will be taken. 
&ldquo;What transpired in Dhubri during Bakra Eid, and how are we responding to the situation. We are fully committed to ensure enforcement of Law and Order in the district and defeat all communal forces,&rdquo; Sarma said, adding, &ldquo;A new beef mafia has emerged in Dhubri, which procured thousands of animals just ahead of Eid. Investigation is underway, and the perpetrators will be put behind bars.&rdquo;
The CM further said, &ldquo;Recently, there have been some political changes in the state of Assam and Bangladesh. After this, a particular section has become extremely active online and on the ground level and is trying to create a planned negative environment, like the incident of throwing beef in the Hanuman temple of Dhubri.&rdquo;

As Typhoon Wutip, the year's first typhoon, draws closer, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated to safety in Hainan Province, South China.
16,561 individuals have been evacuated by the province as of 8 p.m. Thursday from construction sites, low-lying flood-prone areas, and locations vulnerable to flash floods.
Over 40,000 workers aboard the province's 30,721 fishing vessels were evacuated ashore, and all of the vessels had either returned to ports or sought refuge elsewhere.
As of 11 a.m. Friday, the province's meteorological agency kept a Level III typhoon alert in place as Typhoon Wutip continued to intensify.
The storm's centre, which had maximum sustained winds of 28 meters per second near it, was situated over coastal waters close to Ledong Li Autonomous County as of 10 a.m. on Friday. In various areas of the province, rain is predicted by 8 p.m.
Typhoon Wutip is predicted to proceed northward at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometres per hour at noon, with minimal intensity change, according to weather projections.
Wutip is a dangerous tropical storm with winds of 25 to 28 meters per second that could make landfall or brush the coast between Ledong County and Dongfang City on Friday.
Local authorities also stated rescuing twelve crew members from a ship in South China&rsquo;s island province of Hainan as Typhoon Wutip hits.
The Ministry of Transport's Nanhai Rescue Bureau was notified Thursday night that 12 individuals on a cargo ship located approximately 14 nautical miles (26 kilometres) off a promontory in southwestern Hainan needed to be evacuated because of Wutip.
On Thursday, the rescue ship set off at 6:30 p.m. and reached the location around 11:50 p.m., where three-meter waves were created by gales. 43 minutes later, rescuers were able to hoist those crew members to safety, and around noon on Friday, they are anticipated to return to an anchorage.
The evacuees will remain aboard the rescue ship, where they will get medical attention and everyday essentials. When the weather permits, they will be brought ashore.
In Sanya, all kindergartens, schools, building sites and tourism destinations have been shut down.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed new top military leaders after a series of Israeli airstrikes killed several high-ranking Iranian officials. The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore, has taken a terrifying turn, according to the Meghalaya Police.&nbsp; According to investigators, the murderers intended to kill an unnamed woman and burn her body to make it look like Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.&nbsp; According to the authorities, the goal was to give Sonam more time to hide before the truth was revealed.
According to East Khasi Hills police superintendent Vivek Syiem, Sonam Raghuvanshi was a co-conspirator in the murderous scheme, while Raj Kushwaha was the mastermind.
The entire plot to kill Raja Raghuvanshi was decided in Indore just before his wedding, according to the accused, who also claimed that three other plans for the murder did not come to fruition before Raja was killed. According to Syiem, the four accused killers, including Raj Khushwaha, are friends of Sonam and Raj, and one of them is the latter's cousin. The murderous plot started in February, three months before the wedding, and Sonam turned himself in on June 9 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, which is about 1,200 kilometres away.
Another idea, according to the officer, was to kill any woman and then claim that it was Sonam. Another plan was to make people think that Sonam was washed away by a river.
Arriving a few days before the newlyweds' May 19 arrival in Assam, the crew's initial plan was to murder Raja somewhere in Guwahati. Since neither plan worked out, they planned to go to Shillong first, and then Sohra.
After meeting at Nongriat, the three of them headed to Weisawdong Falls, where they killed Raja in front of Sonam by striking him with a machete in the parking lot before tossing his body into a ravine. Since Akash's shirt had a blood stain on it, Sonam handed him the raincoat she was wearing. India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for a major Indian Air Force (IAF) exercise scheduled to take place near the southern sector of the India&ndash;Pakistan International Border in Rajasthan, from Saturday, 7 June to Sunday, 8 June.
The exercise, part of the IAF&rsquo;s regular operational preparedness drills, will be conducted in airspace close to the border.
According to the NOTAM, the aerial manoeuvres will begin at 3:30 p.m. on 7 June and conclude at 9:30 p.m. the following day.
During this period, the airspace over the designated region will be restricted to ensure the safe and seamless execution of air operations.
An IAF official confirmed that the combat exercise would feature a range of advanced air assets, including frontline fighter jets such as Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30, along with surveillance platforms and other support systems.
Although the Ministry of Defence has not officially linked the exercise to ongoing geopolitical tensions, the timing and location carry significant implications.
This sector has become a hotspot amid rising tensions following a deadly cross-border terror attack in Pahalgam. That incident prompted reciprocal airspace restrictions by both India and Pakistan, severely straining bilateral ties.
India recently closed its airspace to all Pakistani-registered and military aircraft from 30 April to 23 May.
This followed Pakistan&rsquo;s earlier decision to bar Indian flights from its airspace, marking a clear escalation in diplomatic and military tensions.

Meghalaya Police Arrest Four in Connection with Brutal Killing
Meghalaya Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of a tourist from Indore who was killed whilst on his honeymoon in the northeastern state. The victim, Raja Raghuvanshi, was allegedly murdered in a plot orchestrated by his own wife just days after their wedding.
Police investigations have revealed that the murder was allegedly planned by the victim's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is suspected of having hired assassins to carry out the killing. The motive appears to centre around an alleged extramarital affair between Mrs Raghuvanshi and one of the accused, Raj Kushwaha.
Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, confirmed that Mrs Raghuvanshi had surrendered to Uttar Pradesh Police in Ghazipur following the arrests of her alleged co-conspirators. The timing of her surrender has raised suspicions amongst investigators.

Initially treated as a missing persons case, the investigation only began in earnest when Mr Raghuvanshi's body was discovered on 2nd June, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team.
The case has taken on additional complexity as multiple police teams from Meghalaya are now operating across different states to apprehend all suspects. One team has been dispatched to Uttar Pradesh specifically to arrest Mrs Raghuvanshi and secure transit remand.
Investigators have noted that Mrs Raghuvanshi remained in hiding throughout the initial investigation period, only surfacing and contacting relatives after the arrest of Kushwaha and the other accused. This timing has been described by police as highly suspicious and indicative of coordination between the suspects.
The case represents a shocking betrayal of marital trust, with authorities alleging that the newlywed bride arranged her husband's murder within days of their wedding ceremony whilst they were supposed to be celebrating their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
Further investigations are ongoing as police work to establish the full extent of the conspiracy and the exact roles played by each of the accused in the planning and execution of the murder.

New details have emerged in the espionage case against Indian YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, with investigative agencies uncovering her direct link to retired Pakistani police Sub-Inspector Nasir Dhillon, who is now under the scanner for alleged intelligence operations against India.
According to intelligence sources, Malhotra was in personal contact with Dhillon and had even appeared alongside him in a podcast episode. Their meeting reportedly took place during one of Malhotra's earlier visits to Pakistan.
Dhillon, who launched his own YouTube channel after retiring from the Pakistani police, initially projected himself as a promoter of peace and cultural dialogue between India and Pakistan. However, investigators now believe that behind the public persona lay a covert mission orchestrated by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and military.
Officials allege that Dhillon operated as a conduit for Pakistani intelligence, using his channel to reach out to Indian YouTubers. After establishing friendly ties with them, he would allegedly introduce them to ISI operatives and gradually assign them tasks aimed at gathering sensitive information about the Indian Army and security establishments.
Malhotra, 36, is believed to be one such individual who was manipulated through this network.
Sources further confirm that Dhillon's connections extended to Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, a Pakistani High Commission staffer in New Delhi who was expelled by Indian authorities on May 13 for suspected espionage.
Investigators have found credible evidence linking Dhillon and Danish, indicating a broader and more organised spy ring operating under diplomatic cover.
Jyoti Malhotra was arrested on May 16 under the Official Secrets Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. She has since undergone multiple rounds of interrogation by both local police and central intelligence agencies.
She is amongst 12 individuals detained so far in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh as part of a wider crackdown on an alleged spy network attempting to exploit Indian digital influencers for intelligence-gathering.
As the probe deepens, security agencies are now expanding their focus to identify more potential infiltrators connected to this network, raising serious concerns over the use of social media as a new front for espionage.

They represent a deliberate dismantling of a long-held American posture: the commitment, however faltering, to a two-state solution.
This is no minor recalibration. The notion of a two-state framework, entrenched in the Oslo Accords and endorsed by successive U.S. administrations, has served as the diplomatic scaffolding upon which much of the West&rsquo;s Middle East peace strategy has rested. That scaffolding now lies in rubble. Huckabee's rhetoric, underscoring the absurd idea that Muslim nations should surrender land elsewhere for a displaced Palestinian state, amounts to the clearest expression yet of Washington&rsquo;s withdrawal from any meaningful support for Palestinian sovereignty.
The State Department's predictable disclaimer&mdash;that Huckabee speaks only for himself&mdash;insults intelligence more than it assures. The Trump administration, now in its resurgent form, has consistently signalled its disdain for Palestinian aspirations. From the relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem to the normalisation of ties between Israel and Arab states via the Abraham Accords, the message has been unmistakable: Palestine is not a priority.
What is unfolding before us is not a policy oversight but a strategic repositioning. Huckabee, an evangelical figure steeped in biblical literalism and territorial maximalism, is a symptom of a deeper ideological shift within U.S. Middle East thinking&mdash;one that prioritises Israel&rsquo;s security narrative and dismisses Palestinian nationhood as an obsolete complication.
This retreat has seismic consequences. The Palestinian Authority, already haemorrhaging legitimacy, is now navigating political quicksand with no diplomatic rope. Gaza remains an open-air prison, its people caught in the cynical cycle of bombardment and hollow reconstruction. Meanwhile, Israeli settlements expand unimpeded, legally dubious but practically irreversible.
And then there&rsquo;s the regional dimension. Arab states that signed on to the Abraham Accords did so under the illusion that they could sidestep the Palestinian question. But this illusion is wearing thin. Public sentiment in the Gulf remains staunchly pro-Palestinian, and regimes that appear complicit in Palestinian marginalisation risk igniting internal dissent. Huckabee&rsquo;s statements, therefore, do not only provoke Palestinian anger&mdash;they embarrass Washington&rsquo;s Arab partners, forcing them into an awkward corner.
Moreover, Washington&rsquo;s moral authority in the region has taken another blow. In calling out violations of international norms from adversaries such as Russia and China, the U.S. appears increasingly selective&mdash;championing self-determination in Ukraine while erasing it in Palestine. This inconsistency is diplomatic dynamite in a region already cynical of American intent.
The real tragedy, however, is conceptual. By walking away from the two-state model without offering an alternative vision&mdash;federalism, confederation, equal rights in a binational state&mdash;the United States is choosing strategic nihilism over innovation. The vacuum left behind will be filled not by peaceful reform but by radicalisation. When a people are denied every political path, the violent one often becomes the last available.
The two-state solution may well have been on life support, but Huckabee&rsquo;s pronouncement is the final nail in its coffin. It exposes the hollowing out of U.S. mediation, the triumph of ideological preference over diplomatic pragmatism. It is, in essence, Washington&rsquo;s renunciation of its role as a peace-broker.
Going forward, the path is perilous. Not just for Palestinians and Israelis, but for American influence itself. Trust, once lost, is hard to regain. And in choosing to openly abandon the fa&ccedil;ade of neutrality, the United States may have won the favour of one ally but at the expense of credibility across an entire region.
History will record this moment not as a turning point toward peace, but as the formalisation of division. Huckabee may have spoken the words&mdash;but Washington, by its silence, has made the choice.

The Indian Navy and the Coast Guard on Monday rescued 18 crew members of the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel, WAN HAI 503, which caught fire about 70 nautical miles off the Kerala coast, officials said.
While 18 crew members have been rescued after they jumped into the sea, the whereabouts of four other crew members attached to the ship's Fire and Safety Department are being ascertained.
The latest visuals show a fire raging on the upper deck of the ship.
The fire accident was reported on the ship, deep in the Arabian Sea, off the Beypore&ndash;Azhikal coastline of Kerala.
With the alert coming from the Indian Coast Guard, the hospitals at Kozhikode and Kochi have been asked to be on high alert in case the crew of the ship requires medical attention.
The 270-metre-long vessel, with a draught of 12.5 metres, had departed Colombo on June 7 and was en route to Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Dornier aircraft and vessels of the Coast Guard and Navy from Kochi and Mangaluru have reached the ship, while some others are expected to arrive at the site shortly.
Capt K. Arun Kumar, the Port officer at Beypore, said some of the containers are carrying dangerous cargo, which includes inflammable liquids and solids and also toxic substances.
The crew who have been saved are likely to be brought to Beypore.
The crew does not have any Indians, as per officials.

According to him, the individual in question was a student scheduled to board the same flight as Jain but was left behind and subsequently deported.
In the video, the visibly distressed student is seen restrained on the floor, weeping as officers stand nearby. Jain, who witnessed the scene firsthand, expressed his anguish over the student's treatment. He wrote, &ldquo;I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night &mdash; handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal. He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy.&rdquo;
Jain has urged the Indian Embassy in the United States to look into the matter and extend support to the student. He tagged both the Indian Embassy and the External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar, seeking urgent intervention.
In response to the incident, the Indian Consulate in New York issued a statement on Monday, saying, &ldquo;We have come across social media posts claiming that an Indian national is facing difficulties at Newark Liberty International Airport. We are in touch with local authorities in this regard. The Consulate remains ever committed to the welfare of Indian nationals.&rdquo;
Jain further noted that the student appeared to be speaking in Haryanavi, suggesting he may have hailed from Haryana. He also pointed out that there have been multiple similar incidents recently, where Indian nationals were deported due to an apparent failure to convincingly explain the purpose of their visit to US immigration authorities. He added that despite possessing valid visas and boarding passes, several students are being detained upon arrival, interrogated for hours, and sometimes deported in handcuffs &mdash; treated, in effect, like criminals.
&ldquo;This poor boy&rsquo;s parents likely have no idea what is happening to him,&rdquo; Jain wrote. &ldquo;He was supposed to board the same flight as me last night but never did. Someone needs to find out his whereabouts from the New Jersey authorities. I found him disoriented.&rdquo;
The video has sparked widespread debate and concern online, with many sharing it across platforms and media outlets beginning to report on the incident. It has come to symbolise growing fears among Indian students in the US, many of whom now feel uncertain and anxious about their future.

Federal agents, primarily tasked with executing immigration detentions and deportations, were targeted by what officials described as "violent mobs" near key locations in East and South Los Angeles. Eyewitness videos circulating on social media showed scenes of chaos, including fires, damaged vehicles, and federal officers under attack.
A formal communication from the White House stated that elements of the California National Guard are being federalised under emergency powers. The move effectively overrides state control, a decision Governor Gavin Newsom publicly condemned in a series of late-night posts on social media platform X.
Newsom accused the administration of "deliberate provocation" and argued that local agencies were already managing the situation effectively. &ldquo;There is no unmet law enforcement need,&rdquo; he wrote.

What began as a seemingly respectful departure by Musk from his advisory role in the Trump administration quickly spiraled into a war of words, policy clashes, and personal accusations. Within days, the cracks widened into a full-blown split &mdash; complete with legislative jabs, impeachment calls, and financial fallout.
The clash reached a peak on Thursday, 5 June, when Trump accused Musk of attempting to derail a key legislative bill, reportedly due to its removal of electric vehicle tax credits&mdash;an alleged hit to Tesla&rsquo;s profits. Speaking to reporters, Trump said, &ldquo;Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will any more. I'm very disappointed in Elon. Close on the heels of the tragic Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Meghalaya that shook the nation, another shocking incident has emerged from Bengaluru. A software professional allegedly stabbed his married lover 17 times, killing her, after she began distancing herself due to her husband's suspicions.
The incident took place recently in an OYO hotel room located in Poornaprajna Layout, under the jurisdiction of the Subramanyapura Police Station, police confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Harini, while the accused has been named as Yashas, a techie by profession.
According to police sources, Harini, a mother of two, was engaged in an extramarital relationship with the accused. Investigations revealed the two had met at a fair, exchanged phone numbers, and later began a romantic and physical relationship.
As the affair progressed, Harini&rsquo;s husband grew suspicious, confiscated her phone, and restricted her movements. Months later, Harini managed to contact Yashas and agreed to meet him.
Police said that on 6 June, the two met and checked into the hotel. After becoming intimate, the accused allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Subramanyapura police have registered a case and arrested the accused. During interrogation, Yashas confessed that he killed Harini as she had started avoiding him. Further investigation is underway.
This murder adds to a disturbing pattern of recent violent crimes in Bengaluru.
In January 2024, 39-year-old Suchana Seth, CEO of a Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence startup, was arrested on charges of murdering her son and carrying his body in a suitcase. The case sent shockwaves across the country and sparked debate over psychological breakdowns among professionals.
