Sreeja Akula made a historic record on Sunday at the World Table Tennis Contender in Lagos as she became the first solo woman to take home a solo championship in the contender grouping. She won an incredible accomplishment by winning the women&rsquo;s doubles championship as well as by making history to be the first Indian to win two titles at once at the WTT event.&nbsp;
Sreeja&rsquo;s soaring victory in the singles will carry her to a career high position of World No 25 surpassing Manika Batra, who has been the one of the greatest paddler in the nation for a consecutive number of years. Batra has already been overtaken by Sreeja once this year.&nbsp;

The pivotal match between Sreeja and Ding was set up by Ayhika Mukherjee's tight loss to Ding Yijie 2-3 in the other semi-final.
Furthermore, Akula and Archana Kamath captured the women&rsquo;s doubles titles earlier on Sunday, completing a remarkable season in the tournament with a strong and dominating 3-0 triumph over Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade. In the other semi final Diya and Yashaswini overcame Sun Sinan and Ding of China (3-1)while the final&rsquo;s champions Ayhika and Sutirtha Mukherjee.
