A Haryana Police officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar, died by suicide in Rohtak&rsquo;s Ladhot village on Tuesday, just days after another senior police officer allegedly took his own life under similar circumstances.
Sandeep Kumar&rsquo;s body was found in a room near an agricultural field. Investigators recovered a written note and a video message, in which he reportedly mentioned workplace harassment and corruption within the department. The Rohtak police have called a forensic team to verify the authenticity of the material and to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
The ASI was posted in the Cyber Cell and had earlier worked at the Superintendent of Police office in Rohtak. His death adds to the growing concerns about internal stress, alleged corruption, and caste-based discrimination within the Haryana Police department.
This incident follows the death of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar on October 7, whose note had accused senior officers of harassment and caste bias. The state government later transferred Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, after the officer&rsquo;s wife, IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, sought action against those allegedly responsible.
The Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR under sections related to abetment of suicide and added provisions under the SC/ST Act following her appeal.
