In a breakthrough, authorities seized around 50&ndash;60 kilograms of explosives and arrested two suspects during a raid in Haryana&rsquo;s Faridabad on Tuesday. The operation, led by the Crime Branch in Sector 56, follows the deadly explosion near Delhi&rsquo;s Red Fort Metro Station that killed at least eight people and injured several others on Monday evening.
The Red Fort blast involved a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 car, parked near Gate No. 1 of the station. The latest seizure adds a new dimension to the ongoing investigation, which had earlier exposed a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad. Police had previously confiscated 2,900 kg of explosives and a cache of arms from the same network.
Two Jammu and Kashmir doctors, Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil, linked to the module, were recently arrested, which reportedly caused panic among operatives, potentially triggering the Red Fort incident.
The case has now been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation and directed multi-state operations. Delhi Police have sealed Gates 1 and 4 of Lal Qila Metro Station as part of ongoing security measures, while multiple teams continue to track leads under UAPA, Explosives Act, and BNS provisions.
