Ireland&rsquo;s women&rsquo;s cricket team has kept its Women&rsquo;s T20 World Cup dream alive with an unbeaten run at the ICC Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands.
Led by Gaby Lewis, Ireland thrashed Germany by 179 runs in Rotterdam on Sunday, their fourth straight victory, ensuring qualification for the Global Qualifier in Nepal this January. Four teams from that stage will advance to the ICC Women&rsquo;s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales.
Teen sensation Amy Hunter stole the show with a stunning 114* off 67 balls, her second T20I century, guiding Ireland to 223/1. Supported by Christina Coulter Reilly (21) and Leah Paul (62*), Hunter&rsquo;s innings powered Ireland to an unbeatable position.
Germany faltered in reply, managing just 44/8 as Leah Paul and Laura Delany claimed two wickets each. Ireland, already four-time World Cup participants, are now strongly placed for a fifth appearance.
Skipper Gaby Lewis praised her squad&rsquo;s depth: &ldquo;Every player coming in has grabbed the opportunity. It&rsquo;s making selection tougher, but it&rsquo;s exactly what we want to grow stronger as a team.&rdquo;
Ireland will next face the hosts Netherlands, on Tuesday before their final European Qualifier clash with Italy on Wednesday.
