Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s Srikanth D. clinched the Men&rsquo;s Open title while Kamali Moorthy successfully defended both her Women&rsquo;s Open and Groms Girls (U-16) titles at the Indian Open of Surfing&mdash;the second leg of the 2025 National Surfing Championship Series.
Srikanth, who finished runner-up last year, returned with a determination to secure victory with a score of 14.63, defeating reigning national champion Ramesh Budilal (11.87). Sivaraj Babu and Sanjay Selvamani completed the top four.
Kamali continued her dominance in Indian women&rsquo;s surfing. She scored 13.33 to win the Women&rsquo;s Open, beating Sugar Shanti Banarse (10.50) and Shrishti Selvam (2.47). In the Groms Girls final, Kamali posted the highest heat score of the event&mdash;15.50&mdash;outpacing Aadya Singh (2.36) and Saanvi Hegde (2.20).
In the Groms Boys (U-16) final, Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s Prahlad Sriram edged out Harish P. (9.67) and Som Sethi (9.30) with a score of 11.06 in a tightly contested event.
Organised by the Surfing Swami Foundation and hosted by Mantra Surf Club under the Surfing Federation of India, the event was delayed due to monsoon rains and held behind closed doors due to safety concerns.
Despite weather challenges, the competition delivered top-notch performances. &ldquo;Though it was scaled down, the commitment and passion of the athletes were extraordinary,&rdquo; said Rammohan Paranjape, Vice President, Surfing Federation of India.
