Shubman Gill&rsquo;s journey to becoming India&rsquo;s Test captain has been nothing short of exceptional. 
Since assuming leadership ahead of the England tour, the 25-year-old has impressed with both his batting and captaincy, guiding India to a 2-2 series draw despite the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rohit Sharma.
His first home Test victory came quickly &mdash; a two-and-a-half-day finish against the West Indies &mdash; yet one peculiar streak lingered: his inability to win a toss. 
Gill had lost all six tosses as captain until New Delhi, where he finally won on his seventh attempt &mdash; the longest wait by any Indian Test captain and the joint-second overall.
The rare moment sparked laughter in the Indian dressing room. 
Head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, joined in congratulating Gill, who grinned while announcing India&rsquo;s decision to bat first.
&ldquo;The wicket looks good to bat on Day 1. Consistency is key; we aim to maintain the same intensity in every game. I&rsquo;m still the same person, just with more responsibility now,&rdquo; Gill said after the toss.
Gill, who will also lead the Indian ODI team in the upcoming Australia series, described the dual role as &ldquo;a very exciting responsibility.&rdquo;
India fielded an unchanged XI from their previous innings win, while the West Indies made two changes. 
The Caribbean side, who last defeated India in a Test series in 2002, will look to end that long drought in the current series.
