Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra on Friday delighted a fan by offering him an all-expenses-paid VVIP experience, including accommodation, for the upcoming Neeraj Chopra Classic, set to take place on July 5 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
The fan, Ranjith from Coimbatore, had taken to social media earlier this week requesting financial help to attend the prestigious athletic event. His post on X (formerly Twitter) read, &ldquo;If anyone sponsors me 2000 rupees, I can go to watch this from Coimbatore.&rdquo;
In a heartwarming response, Chopra not only offered him a VVIP ticket but also promised him a stay at a luxury hotel. &ldquo;Hi, Ranjith. You've got a full VVIP experience waiting for you in Bengaluru because your trip to the @nc_classic is on me! And thanks to @RadissonHotels, you'll be staying about 90 metres away from me. See you soon!&rdquo; Chopra replied.
Originally scheduled for May 24, the event was postponed due to tensions involving India and Pakistan, as a security precaution and gesture of national solidarity.
The Neeraj Chopra Classic is now a World Athletics-sanctioned Gold-level event and is expected to place Indian athletics in the global spotlight. A number of international javelin stars, including Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, Germany&rsquo;s Thomas R&ouml;hler, and Grenada&rsquo;s Anderson Peters, will be competing.
Chopra has been instrumental in organizing the event and personally inviting top global athletes to participate.
Earlier this week, Chopra won the javelin throw title at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 meet with a top effort of 85.29 meters. This victory followed his Paris Diamond League triumph earlier in the month, adding another gold to his successful season.
