Indian shuttlers scripted a memorable day at the BWF World Championships 2025 in Paris, as PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, and Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto stormed into the quarterfinals with sensational victories.
In men&rsquo;s doubles, Satwik-Chirag staged a superb comeback against the sixth-seeded Chinese duo of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. After losing the first game 19-21, the Indian pair bounced back strongly to clinch the next two games 21-15, 21-17 in a thrilling 66-minute contest. They will now face second seeds Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia for a semifinal berth.
Meanwhile, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu displayed vintage form, stunning World No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi of China in straight games 21-19, 21-15. Sindhu showed composure in pressure moments and will now face Indonesia&rsquo;s Putri Kusuma Wardani in the last eight.
Adding to India&rsquo;s joy, the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto pulled off a major upset over fifth seeds Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong, China. After dropping the first game 19-21, they dominated the next two 21-12, 21-15. With this win, they are just one victory away from becoming the first Indian mixed doubles pair to secure a medal at the World Championships. Their quarterfinal clash will be against Malaysia&rsquo;s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.
With three entries into the quarterfinals, India&rsquo;s challenge at the BWF Worlds looks stronger than ever.
