The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the group stage draw for the 2026 Women&rsquo;s T20 World Cup, to be hosted in England from June 12 to July 5. India has been placed in Group 1 alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, defending champions Australia, South Africa, and two teams yet to qualify.
India will begin its campaign with a marquee clash against Pakistan on June 14 at Edgbaston, followed by a match against a qualifier at Headingley on June 17. The team will take on South Africa at Old Trafford on June 21, then face the second qualifier on June 25 at the same venue. The group stage will conclude with a blockbuster showdown against Australia at the iconic Lord&rsquo;s Cricket Ground on June 28.
The tenth edition of the tournament will be the largest-ever ICC Women&rsquo;s T20 World Cup, featuring 12 teams competing over 24 days. Matches will be played across prestigious venues, including Edgbaston, The Oval, Old Trafford, Hampshire Bowl, Headingley, Bristol County Ground, and Lord&rsquo;s.
England, the host nation, opens the tournament against Sri Lanka on June 12 at Edgbaston. Group 2 includes England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and two qualifier teams. The semi-finals will be held at The Oval on June 30 and July 2, with the final at Lord&rsquo;s on July 5.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt expressed excitement, calling the event a &ldquo;game-changing moment&rdquo; for women&rsquo;s sport. Tournament director Beth Barrett-Wild added, &ldquo;This World Cup will transform sporting excellence into a movement that rewrites the narrative of women&rsquo;s cricket.&rdquo;
