Indian rifle and pistol shooters delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Munich, returning home with four medals&mdash;two gold and two bronze. The impressive showing placed India third in the overall standings, behind only China and Norway.
Olympian Elavenil Valarivan set the tone by winning bronze in the women&rsquo;s 10m air rifle final with a score of 231.2. She had earlier broken the national qualification record with a score of 635.9.
Sift Kaur Samra followed with another bronze in the women&rsquo;s 50m rifle 3 positions. The reigning world record holder (469.6 at the 2022 Asian Games) scored 453.1 to secure a podium finish, adding to her earlier gold from the Buenos Aires leg of the World Cup this year.
The first gold for India came from 19-year-old Suruchi Singh in the women&rsquo;s 10m air pistol. Singh held her nerve and topped the final with a score of 241.9, securing her third straight World Cup gold in 2025.
India&rsquo;s second gold was clinched by Arjun Singh Babuta and Arya Borse in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. They defeated China&rsquo;s duo 17-7 in the final after narrowly trailing them in the qualification round.
National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo praised the shooters and reiterated NRAI&rsquo;s support. He also expressed anticipation for the debut of the Shooting League of India later this year.
India fielded a 36-member squad in the Munich leg, having earlier secured eight medals in Buenos Aires and seven in Lima. The next stage of the ISSF World Cup will be held in Ningbo, China, in September.
