India has formally presented its proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, positioning Ahmedabad as the host city for the centenary edition of the event. The presentation took place in London before the Evaluation Committee of Commonwealth Sport, led by Gujarat&rsquo;s Sports Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, and CGA India President, Dr P. T. Usha. Senior officials from the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, and the Commonwealth Games Association of India were also part of the delegation.
The 2030 Games will mark 100 years of the Commonwealth Sport Movement. India&rsquo;s proposal highlights Ahmedabad&rsquo;s ability to provide a compact Games footprint with international-standard venues, reliable transport systems, and high-quality accommodation. The bid reflects the Games Reset principles, with emphasis on affordability, inclusivity, flexibility, and sustainability. It also commits to integrating parasport, protecting human rights, promoting gender equity, and creating a legacy that benefits athletes, communities, and the wider Commonwealth.
Ahmedabad&rsquo;s proven track record in hosting global sporting events strengthens its candidature. The city has successfully hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup, the Indian Premier League, and the 2022 National Games, and is scheduled to host the Asian Aquatics Championships 2025, the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026, and the World Police and Fire Games 2029.
The proposal has received strong backing from the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, and the Commonwealth Games Association of India, underlining the country&rsquo;s ambition to deliver a sustainable, inclusive, and impactful edition of the Games.
