The Indian women&rsquo;s hockey team continued their unbeaten run at the Women&rsquo;s Asia Cup with a 4-2 victory over South Korea in their first Super4s clash at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium, Hangzhou.
India struck early when Vaishnavi Phalke converted a rebound from a penalty corner in the second minute. The team maintained possession and pressed hard, but went into the first break with a narrow 1-0 lead.
In the third quarter, Sangita Kumari doubled the advantage after a fine move by Rutuja Pisal, but Korea immediately responded through Kim Yujin from a penalty corner. India restored their two-goal cushion in the 40th minute, with Lalremsiami&rsquo;s clinical strike making it 3-1.
Korea continued to fight and pulled one back in the 53rd minute, again through Kim Yujin, narrowing the score to 3-2. India, however, sealed the contest in the final minute when Rutuja Pisal smashed home a rebound to secure a 4-2 win.
India will next take on hosts China in what is expected to be their toughest encounter of the tournament. The team must win the Asia Cup to qualify for the 2026 FIH Women&rsquo;s Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.
