Indian golfer Diksha Dagar moved into tied third position at the Tenerife Women&rsquo;s Open after carding a second-round 3-under 69, following her opening round of 70. With a total of 5-under after two rounds, the 24-year-old sits four shots behind sole leader Lauren Walsh, who posted rounds of 67 and 68 to reach 9-under at Abama Golf.
Meanwhile, Avani Prashanth slipped down the leaderboard after a 3-over 75 in the second round, placing her in a tie for 43rd. Tvesa Malik (73-75), Hitaashee Bakshi (72-76), and Sneha Singh (77-79) did not make the cut, which was set at 3-over par.
Diksha had a dynamic round, picking up a birdie on the 3rd hole, dropping a shot on the 5th, but bouncing back with birdies on the 6th and 9th. On the back nine, she made consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, followed by a double bogey on the 16th. However, she responded with a well-played birdie on the 17th to finish at 69.
Reflecting on her performance, the two-time LET winner said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m really looking forward to the weekend. I need to stay consistent. I&rsquo;m striking the ball well, and I&rsquo;ll keep my focus on my own game instead of the leaderboard. My dad has been reading the greens really well and giving me some great insights &mdash; thanks to him, I had some solid birdie chances. This course is quite challenging for caddies too.&rdquo;
Diksha shares the third spot with six other players, including first-round co-leader Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen. Also tied at 5-under are Czech Republic&rsquo;s Sara Kouskova, winner of the Jabra Ladies Open; Spain&rsquo;s Marta Martin; Austria&rsquo;s Emma Spitz; and Italy&rsquo;s Alessandra Fanali and Anna Zanusso.
Avani Prashanth started strong with three birdies in her first six holes and briefly reached the top five. However, a bogey on the 9th and a costly quadruple bogey on the par-4 13th saw her tumble down the standings.
Tvesa Malik recorded two birdies but also had five bogeys. Hitaashee Bakshi had one birdie with five bogeys, while Sneha Singh&rsquo;s round of 79 included two birdies, four bogeys, a double, and a triple bogey.
Ireland&rsquo;s Lauren Walsh remains in the lead, having played in the same group as Diksha. She is two shots ahead of Singapore&rsquo;s Shannon Tan, who shot 71 and 66 to reach 7-under par.
