India&rsquo;s captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf have been fined 30% of their match fees for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, while Pakistan&rsquo;s Sahibzada Farhan received a formal warning for his celebratory gun gesture after completing his fifty.
The controversy erupted after Suryakumar&rsquo;s post-match remarks referencing the Pahalgam terror attack and dedicating India&rsquo;s win to the armed forces. The Pakistan Cricket Board lodged a complaint, terming the comments political. Summoned by match referee Richie Richardson, Suryakumar pleaded not guilty, but the ruling went against him. India is expected to appeal after the tournament ends.
Tensions have been escalating throughout the Asia Cup. From Suryakumar refusing to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss, to heated verbal spats during the Super 4s clash, the rivalry has spilled beyond cricket. India even filed a complaint against Haris Rauf and Farhan for their on-field gestures.
Rauf, already under scrutiny for animated exchanges with Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, was found guilty of conduct violations. &ldquo;They were coming at us for no reason,&rdquo; Abhishek said after the match.
