Pakistan has sharply pushed back against India&rsquo;s recent allegations over nuclear testing, accusing New Delhi of twisting remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump. Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, speaking at a weekly briefing, insisted that Pakistan&rsquo;s nuclear stance has been unchanged since its last tests in 1998. &ldquo;India is clearly distorting facts and misrepresenting the remarks of US President Trump,&rdquo; he asserted, adding that Washington had already clarified the statement's context.
India had claimed that Pakistan&rsquo;s nuclear programme continued in secrecy, driven by alleged smuggling and export violations. Islamabad dismissed such accusations as &ldquo;baseless, malicious,&rdquo; and emphasized its support for international efforts to ban nuclear tests, including UN-backed resolutions. &ldquo;Our position on nuclear testing is well established and clear,&rdquo; Andrabi said, underlining a policy shaped by regional security concerns.
When questioned about the recent deadly car blast in Delhi that killed 13 people, Andrabi avoided direct comment. Indian investigators have suggested the suspect maintained links with Pakistan-based groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, raising concerns of cross-border terror networks. The spokesperson, however, responded: &ldquo;We do not know who these people are,&rdquo; refusing to attribute any association without verified information.
The exchange highlights the escalating rhetoric between the neighbouring rivals, especially on strategic and security matters. With Pakistan stressing diplomatic clarity and India pointing fingers at covert operations, the nuclear debate serves as yet another flashpoint in an already fraught relationship.
