Delhi Police has registered a fresh FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the chief of the pro-Khalistan group Sikh For Justice (SFJ), following his alleged threat to create unrest in the national capital ahead of Republic Day on January 26. The action was taken after Pannun released a video on social media in which he warned of disturbances in Delhi and claimed involvement in anti-India activities.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police initiated the case after Pannun&rsquo;s video surfaced online, in which he allegedly threatened to disrupt peace and spread instability in the city before the national celebrations. Authorities have accused him of conspiring against India and endangering the country&rsquo;s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
An FIR has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 152 and 61, which deal with acts threatening the sovereignty and integrity of India and criminal conspiracy. In addition, Sections 196 and 197 have also been invoked for promoting enmity between groups and making statements that could harm national unity.
In his video message, Pannun claimed that sleeper cells of his organization had pasted pro-Khalistan posters in residential areas such as Rohini and Dabri in Delhi. He alleged that these actions were part of a larger plan to demonstrate the group&rsquo;s presence and influence in the capital.
Following this claim, the Delhi Police Special Cell conducted extensive searches in the mentioned areas. However, no such posters or any objectionable material were found during the operation. Police officials believe the claim was likely an attempt to create psychological pressure and spread fear rather than a reflection of actual on-ground activity.
Investigations are currently underway to assess the full scope of the alleged conspiracy and to trace any possible links or local contacts. Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found attempting to disturb public order or threaten national security, especially during sensitive occasions like Republic Day.
