The said video was circulated widely on social media that grabbed the attention of opposition party members and even the common man. Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s Local media claims that the said video of Srinivasan apologizing to the Finance Minister is circulated by the BJP&rsquo;s Tamil Nadu Social Media team. &nbsp; According to the media reports, BJP Social media team posted a video, where Srinivasan is in conversation with the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and later apologizing to her, in the said video Coimbatore South&rsquo;s MLA Vanathi Srinivasan is visible, sitting opposite to FM. &nbsp; Before the apology episode, Srinivasan, the owner of the Sree Annapurna Hotel, had made representation to the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman in a business summit about the complexity in GST rate slabs and requested to address the issue. He drew attention of the finance minister that &ldquo;There is 5% GST on sweets, 12% on savouries, and 18% on cream-filled buns, but no GST on regular buns&rdquo;&nbsp; &nbsp; According to the Tamil Nadu media reports, the said submission of Srinivasan went viral on social media, which embarrassed the ruling party, which might have compelled or forced party leaders to organise meeting FM and Srinivasan, and upload the meeting video.&nbsp; &nbsp; But the action seems to have backfired. Taking dig at the Tamil Nadu BJP Social Media post, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi Tweeted, &ldquo;When the owner of a small business, like Annapoorna restaurant in Coimbatore, asks our public servants for a simplified GST regime, his request is met with arrogance and outright disrespect. Yet, when a billionaire friend seeks to bend the rules, change the laws, or acquire national assets, Modi Ji rolls out the red carpet.&rdquo; &nbsp; Strongly condemning the post, Shiv Sena (UBT)&rsquo;s Yuva Sena President and former Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra Aaditya Thackeray in his tweet said, &ldquo;The video of the Union Finance Minister (from the bjp) making a businessman from Coimbatore, apologise to her is absolute arrogance- the one that has become the hallmark of the bjp. Had the bjp been voted with majority, this person would have faced a bulldozer, and yet even without majority, they indulge in such arrogant behaviour.&rdquo;&nbsp; &nbsp; So far there is no comment from the Union Finance Minister&rsquo;s office over the controversy.
But, K Annamalai, BJP state unit president through tweet has apologised to Thiru Srinivasan on behalf of BJP social media for leaking private conversation. "On behalf of&nbsp; @BJP4TamilNadu, I sincerely apologise for the actions of our functionaries who shared a private conversation between a respected business owner and our Hon. FMI spoke with Thiru Srinivasan Avl, the esteemed owner of the Annapoorna chain of Restaurants, to express regret for this unintended breach of privacy."
