<p data-start="734" data-end="1053"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Instead of relying on bone marrow samples, the team found that rare stem cells&mdash;which occasionally escape the bone marrow and enter the bloodstream&mdash;hold crucial early indicators of MDS. By using advanced single-cell genetic sequencing, they were able to extract and analyze these rare cells from a standard blood sample.</span></p>
<p data-start="1055" data-end="1345"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Remarkably, these circulating stem cells also function as a biological "clock," providing clues about an individual&rsquo;s chronological aging. The study found that these stem cell changes occur earlier in men than in women, possibly explaining the higher incidence of blood cancers among males.</span></p>
