In a chilling revelation, Bengaluru surgeon Dr Mahendra Reddy allegedly confessed to his lover, saying, &ldquo;I killed my wife for you&rdquo;, just weeks after murdering his wife, Kruthika Reddy. The message, discovered on his phone during a forensic investigation, was sent through a digital payment app, confirming his role in the crime.
Police said Mahendra, a 32-year-old general surgeon, meticulously planned the murder using his medical expertise and knowledge of his wife&rsquo;s health issues. He allegedly administered a fatal dose of anaesthesia while posing as if he were providing medical care.
The couple, who married in May 2024, had growing tensions after Mahendra discovered Kruthika&rsquo;s long-standing metabolic and gastric disorders. According to investigators, he used these vulnerabilities to plan her death.
On April 23, 2025, Kruthika was found unconscious at her father&rsquo;s home in Marathahalli and later declared dead at a private hospital. Initially thought to be a natural death, suspicions arose when her sister Dr. Nikitha Reddy demanded a probe. A forensic report later confirmed respiratory failure due to anaesthetic overdose, leading to Mahendra&rsquo;s arrest.
Officials said Mahendra&rsquo;s calculated actions and his disturbing post-crime confession have made the case one of the most shocking in recent Bengaluru history.
