In a shocking double murder case from Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, a 42-year-old woman and her teenage son were found dead in their flat late Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son, Krish Sewani, a Class 10 student.
Ruchika, who co-owned a garment shop in the Lajpat Nagar market with her husband Kuldeep Sewani, had not responded to calls, prompting Kuldeep to return home. Upon arrival, he found the door locked from the inside and bloodstains on the gate and chairs. He immediately alerted the police.
Police broke open the door and discovered the bodies of the mother and son inside. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Police have arrested 24-year-old Mukesh, a native of Hajipur in Bihar, in connection with the murder. Mukesh had been working as a driver and shop assistant at the family&rsquo;s garment store and was staying in Amar Colony. The motive behind the killings is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident also reported on Wednesday, police arrested a 27-year-old man, Sumit, in the Narela area for allegedly murdering his 19-year-old neighbour, Kapil Dahiya. According to police, the victim was strangled and then burnt, and his body was found under the Narela-Bawana flyover on June 29.
