A 25-year-old woman was shot inside a club in Gurugram after she allegedly refused a marriage proposal, leading to the arrest of two men in connection with the incident.
The firing took place in the early hours of December 20 at a club located on MG Road. Police received information about a woman being injured in a shooting and found her admitted to a private hospital. She was initially declared unfit to give a statement.
A complaint was later lodged by the victim&rsquo;s husband, a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi. He told police that his wife, identified as Kalpana, worked at a club in Gurugram. According to the complaint, she had gone to work on the night of December 19 and called him around 1 am, informing him that she had been shot.
The husband further alleged that the accused, identified as Tushar, had come to their house about a month ago, had an argument with the family and left. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sector 29 police station.
During the investigation, a crime unit team arrested two accused &mdash; Tushar alias Jonty (25) and his associate Shubham alias Jony (24), both residents of Sangam Vihar in Delhi. They were apprehended from Baraut in Uttar Pradesh.
During questioning, police said Tushar admitted that he had befriended the woman around six months ago and wanted to marry her, but she had repeatedly refused his proposal. Investigators allege that on the night of the incident, Tushar, along with Shubham, went to the club, approached the woman again with the proposal and, after being refused, opened fire on her.
Both accused have been taken into custody and are being interrogated. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and recover the weapon used in the crime.
