A shocking murder has surfaced in Gobardanga, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, where the body of a 43-year-old woman was discovered hidden under her bed.
The deceased, identified as Mithu Dutta, had been living with her two sons after her husband went missing nearly a decade ago. In recent years, her brother-in-law had also moved into the household.
Mithu was reported missing last Thursday. Days later, her sons noticed a foul smell coming from her room. When police were alerted, they found her body wrapped in a blanket and concealed under the bed, with severe head injuries suggesting she was bludgeoned to death.
Investigators suspect someone from within the household may be behind the crime, given the circumstances. The two sons and brother-in-law are currently being questioned, while the body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities but indicated that the murder was likely committed by someone close to the victim.
