A 23-year-old homeless woman, admitted to Delhi's Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, died during treatment after allegedly being sexually assaulted by another patient, triggering outrage across the capital.
The incident occurred on June 23, when the woman, admitted on June 21, stepped outside the ward and was reportedly molested by a male patient. She was later transferred to GTB Hospital, where she died during treatment on June 25. A complaint was registered at the New Usmanpur police station, and the accused &mdash; a 23-year-old man &mdash; has been arrested.
A police team led by SP Usmanpur reached the hospital to question staff and suspects. Meanwhile, the hospital has formed a four-member internal committee to aid investigations.
The shocking death has drawn political attention, with AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj questioning the hospital&rsquo;s security measures, citing possible CCTV and administrative failures.
