Indore businessman found dead in Meghalaya gorge; wife Sonam arrested for contract killing plot
 A chilling twist has emerged in the suspected murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, whose body was found in a gorge in Meghalaya days after he went missing during his honeymoon. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has been arrested in connection with the killing, following her surrender to police in Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on leads developed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Meghalaya Police tracked Sonam to Nandganj police station in Ghazipur district. She surrendered without resistance and was formally arrested. Investigators believe Sonam orchestrated her husband's murder by hiring contract killers from Madhya Pradesh.
Three accomplices, all reportedly involved in the crime, have also been taken into custody. One was picked up from Uttar Pradesh, while two others were nabbed during overnight raids in Indore.
The couple had arrived in Meghalaya&rsquo;s Cherrapunjee region on 22 May and were last seen checking out of Balaji Homestay the next morning. Their rented scooter was found abandoned near Sohrarim soon after they were reported missing.
Ten days later, Raja&rsquo;s body was recovered from a gorge near Weisawdong Parking Lot at Riat Arliang. A blood-stained machete suspected to have been used in the attack was found nearby. At the time, Sonam was untraceable.
Investigators received a breakthrough when a local tourist guide from Mawlakhiat came forward, claiming he had seen the couple climbing a trail of over 3,000 steps with three men on 23 May&mdash;the day they vanished. He identified the couple as the same tourists he had approached a day earlier, though they had opted for another guide.
Authorities say the fourth accused is still on the run. Interrogations are ongoing as police work to uncover the full conspiracy.
Meghalaya police have been lauded for their swift progress in the case. The state&rsquo;s Chief Minister praised the force for securing major arrests within a week of the crime.
The investigation continues.
