A woman constable posted in Pilibhit has levelled grave allegations of sexual assault, torture and dowry harassment against her husband and in-laws, claiming she was subjected to brutal violence after discovering her husband in a compromising situation with his sister. The FIR, filed at Bisalpur police station, details a series of attacks beginning soon after her marriage in January 2023.
According to the complaint, the woman said her in-laws forced her to drink sanitiser in September 2024 after she confronted the family. She alleged she was assaulted repeatedly, resulting in hospitalisation, and that her newborn son now suffers health complications because of the abuse she endured during pregnancy.
The constable further stated that her in-laws continued to demand a Scorpio car and dismissed the wedding gifts worth nearly ₹50 lakh provided by her family as &ldquo;inadequate&rdquo;. She also accused her brother-in-law of raping her at gunpoint in Meerut in 2025, an allegation for which a separate case is already registered at Kharkhauda police station.
Police confirmed that a case has now been registered under sections related to cruelty, assault, intimidation and dowry harassment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The accused include her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and other relatives. Further investigation is underway.
