Three young men lost their lives after their speeding car lost control, rammed into a tree, and overturned into a paddy field along the Palakkad&ndash;Chittoor road late on Saturday night.
According to police sources, the accident took place around 10.30 pm when six friends were travelling from Chittoor to Palakkad. The impact was so severe that three of them &mdash; Sanoosh (19), Rohan Ranjith (24) and Rohan Santhosh (22), all residents of Palakkad &mdash; died on the spot.
The remaining three passengers, identified as Rishi (24), Jithin (21) and Adithyan (23), sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. One of the survivors was admitted to a hospital in Thrissur, while two others were taken to Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu for further treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver might have lost control after attempting to avoid a wild boar that suddenly appeared on the road. Police said the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the driver applied the brakes abruptly, causing the car to veer off the road and overturn.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to confirm the exact cause of the crash. The damaged vehicle has been recovered and sent for inspection.
