In a significant joint operation, three Khalistani terrorists, accused of carrying out an attack on a police post in Punjab's Gurdaspur, were killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit on Monday, officials confirmed.
The Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Police launched the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of the terrorists in an area under the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station in Pilibhit. The terrorists, identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virender Singh alias Ravi, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh&mdash;all hailing from Gurdaspur&mdash;were members of the Khalistani Commandos Force.
According to police reports, the trio had previously attacked a police station in Gurdaspur using grenades and bombs, posing a significant threat to public safety and law enforcement.

Acting on credible intelligence provided by Punjab Police, both state police forces coordinated a well-planned operation. The gunfight erupted in the early hours of Monday, culminating in the neutralization of the three terrorists.
Post-encounter, authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a significant cache of ammunition from the slain individuals.
In an official statement, the police said, "The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of Puranpur police station. The joint operation was conducted successfully by teams of Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police."
The operation marks a significant success in counter-terrorism efforts and highlights the coordination between law enforcement agencies in tackling threats posed by extremist groups.
