In a significant crackdown on the narcotics trade in the capital, the Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested three drug peddlers from a hotel in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar on Thursday. The operation led to the recovery of banned psychotropic substances including MDMA and cocaine.
According to officials, 4.63 grams of MDMA and 3.32 grams of cocaine were seized during the raid. The accused &mdash; identified as Tarun Kumar (22), Mohammad Arif (23), and Dharmesh (24) &mdash; were operating from an OYO hotel in Laxmi Nagar, where they targeted college students and young working professionals in the area.
The trio reportedly entered the drug trade for quick financial gains and had been selling high-demand party drugs across East Delhi. Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics team conducted a swift raid and arrested them on the premises.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement. Investigators revealed that Arif and Dharmesh had prior criminal records, with Arif facing three earlier cases and Dharmesh being wanted in a separate NDPS-related matter.
A case has been filed under sections 22, 25, 29, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to trace their supply chain and any potential links to larger drug networks.
The Anti-Narcotics Squad emphasised that such arrests are crucial to curbing the growing drug menace among youth in Delhi.
