In a chilling revelation, Gujarat&rsquo;s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has uncovered that terror suspect Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed was allegedly experimenting with one of the world&rsquo;s deadliest natural poisons &mdash; ricin,&nbsp;using AI tools like ChatGPT to learn its preparation process.
Officials said the breakthrough came after a routine search of Dr. Ahmed&rsquo;s car led to the discovery of castor oil, a key ingredient in ricin extraction. Further forensic analysis revealed that he had been working for nearly one and a half months to develop the toxin.
Investigators believe Dr. Ahmed had been meticulously researching the chemical formula through digital means, including online platforms and AI chat interfaces. &ldquo;Crucial digital evidence, including chat history and data trails linked to ChatGPT, has been recovered, detailing steps of ricin preparation,&rdquo; a senior ATS officer said, adding that the liquid samples seized are being tested to confirm if ricin was successfully produced.
While the substance&rsquo;s toxicity is yet to be verified, officials confirmed that the accused was arrested before completing the final extraction process. Investigators are also tracing possible storage or concealment locations where the alleged poison could have been kept.
Experts describe ricin as one of the most lethal biological agents known to humankind &mdash; a toxin reportedly six times more potent than cyanide. Even a few micrograms can cause multi-organ failure and death within hours if inhaled or ingested.
Authorities say the case marks a dangerous escalation in the use of AI-driven methods for bioterrorism research, prompting renewed scrutiny of digital platforms and encrypted communication used by terror networks.
