A 40-year-old former English teacher from Bombay Scottish High School in Mahim has been ordered to undergo psychological evaluation following her arrest on charges of sexually assaulting a male student over a period of one year.
Bipasha Kumar, a mother of twins who resided near the school premises, was taken into custody by Dadar police on Saturday after the victim's parents filed a complaint regarding the alleged offences.
According to police sources, the accused is alleged to have developed an inappropriate attraction to the student and systematically groomed him by taking him to various five-star hotels and isolated locations where she allegedly provided alcohol and engaged in sexual acts with the minor.
The investigation has revealed that Kumar, who taught English at the institution, had tendered her resignation in April of the previous year. School authorities have stated they were unaware of any inappropriate conduct during her tenure.
Police records indicate the alleged abuse began when Kumar reportedly drove the student to a secluded location, where she allegedly forced him to undress before sexually assaulting him. The pattern of abuse then allegedly escalated to visits to luxury hotels across the city, where further assaults are said to have occurred after the provision of alcohol to the minor.
The victim's parents became concerned when they observed significant behavioural changes in their son. Initially choosing to monitor the situation as he was in his final academic year, they eventually approached police when his psychological state showed no improvement.
Kumar appeared before a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court, which initially remanded her to police custody until Wednesday. However, investigating officers successfully applied for an additional day's custody to complete psychological profiling of the accused, which was granted by the presiding magistrate.

Authorities have confirmed that no other parents have come forward with similar complaints against Kumar. However, police are currently questioning another woman believed to have been acquainted with the victim as part of their ongoing investigation.
School Principal Sunita George has assured full cooperation with the police investigation, emphasising that none of the alleged incidents occurred on school premises. The institution has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy regarding such conduct.
Police are actively seeking a second woman who allegedly assisted Kumar in befriending the victim, though her identity has not been disclosed.
The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the full extent of the alleged offences and determine whether other students may have been affected.
