Three people were found dead inside a parked car near a flyover in Delhi&rsquo;s Peeragarhi area after being allegedly lured by a self-styled godman with promises of &ldquo;Dhanvarsha,&rdquo; or surprise financial gain through tantric rituals. What initially appeared to be a suicide case has now been treated as a planned murder following the arrest of the accused.
Police identified the suspect as Kamruddin, a resident of Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Firozabad who operated a tantric centre in Loni, Ghaziabad. Investigators believe he orchestrated the killings for financial gain.
The victims were discovered on Sunday afternoon after passersby alerted authorities about three unconscious individuals inside a white sedan. Randhir, 76, was found in the driver&rsquo;s seat, while Shiv Naresh, a 47-year-old property dealer, occupied the front passenger seat. A 40-year-old caregiver named Laxmi was found in the back. The two men were known to each other, and Laxmi was later confirmed to have connections with Naresh.
During the vehicle search, officers recovered liquor bottles, soft drink containers, glasses, mobile phones, cash, identification documents, and other personal belongings. Investigators learned that the trio had visited Loni a day before the incident and remained in close contact with the accused, who allegedly accompanied them in the car before abandoning it near the flyover.
Police say the victims were persuaded to conduct a ritual for wealth and were asked to bring ₹2 lakh in cash along with liquor and cold drinks. According to the probe, the accused gained their trust and psychologically influenced them before executing the plan.
The investigation revealed that poison had been mixed into laddoos consumed by the victims along with beverages. After they lost consciousness, the accused allegedly fled with the cash.
Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the case and described the main accused as a repeat offender with a history of serious crimes. The investigation remains ongoing.
