A tragic accident unfolded in Noida&rsquo;s Sector 20 on Saturday night when a speeding BMW rammed into a scooter, killing a 5-year-old girl named Aayat and injuring her father and uncle.
According to police, the luxury car was being driven by Yash Sharma, a student residing in Sector 37. His co-passenger, Abhishek from Sector 70, was also arrested. Both were taken into custody following the incident.
Aayat&rsquo;s father, Gul Mohammad, and uncle, Raja, were rushing her to the Post Graduate Institute of Child Health in Sector 30 for urgent medical treatment when the collision occurred. The impact flung the child into the air and left both men severely injured.
The police have seized both the BMW and the mangled scooter. A medical examination of the car occupants is underway to check for possible intoxication, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to determine the sequence of events.
This accident echoes a similar BMW-hit-and-run case in Mumbai in July 2024, involving a politician&rsquo;s son. The latest crash has once again sparked concerns over rash driving and the need for stricter road safety enforcement.
