Uttarakhand Police have arrested three men, including the son of a retired Air Force officer, for allegedly orchestrating his murder in Haridwar&rsquo;s Bahadrabad area.
Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramod Singh Dobal said that 21-year-old Yashpal Singh, the victim&rsquo;s son, is suspected to be the mastermind behind the killing. 
Investigators identified the two other arrested men as Lalit Mohan, also known as Rajan, and Shekhar. 
Police said the trio conspired to seize the victim&rsquo;s multi-crore properties.
According to officials, Yashpal initially attempted to mislead the police by calling the control room on Saturday night. 
He claimed his father, Bhagwan Singh, had been shot dead by an unidentified man who had asked for a lift near Jatwada Bridge while they were travelling to a wedding in Roshnabad. 
Yashpal alleged that the assailant opened fire from the back seat and fled when the car stopped.
However, police said inconsistencies emerged during questioning. 
Yashpal&rsquo;s statements reportedly shifted several times before he admitted that the shooting had been staged.
Investigators stated that the father and son had ongoing disputes over property. 
Bhagwan Singh had allegedly refused to transfer his assets to Yashpal and had warned him of eviction from the family home. 
Yashpal is accused of offering his accomplices a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle and ₹30 lakh in exchange for their involvement.
As per the investigation, the three men lay in wait on the Jwalapur&ndash;Bahadrabad canal road around 8 pm on Saturday. 
Lalit Mohan allegedly approached the moving vehicle, was introduced as a friend, and entered the car. 
Once inside, he is accused of firing two shots into Bhagwan Singh&rsquo;s head before stepping out and fleeing with Shekhar, who was stationed nearby.
Police later recovered a .315-bore pistol and spent cartridges believed to have been used in the crime.
