In a shocking case of revenge-fuelled murder, a man was buried alive in a seven-foot-deep pit after being kidnapped and brutally beaten by his landlord and his accomplices in Haryana&rsquo;s Rohtak district. The crime, committed in December last year, came to light only after an intensive three-month-long investigation led police to the remains of the victim.
A Sinister Plot Unfolds
The victim, Jagdeep, a yoga teacher at Baba Mastnath University, had been renting a portion of his landlord Hardeep&rsquo;s house in Rohtak. The peace between the two men shattered when Hardeep discovered that Jagdeep was allegedly having an affair with his wife. Consumed by rage, Hardeep hatched a gruesome plan to eliminate his tenant in the most brutal way possible.
In the days leading up to the murder, Hardeep paid labourers to dig a deep pit in a field in Pantavas village of Charkhi Dadri, telling them it was for a borewell. Then, on December 24, he, along with a group of friends, kidnapped Jagdeep as he returned from work.
Buried Alive in a Nightmare Execution
The gang bound Jagdeep&rsquo;s hands and legs, assaulting him as they drove him to the prepared grave. Upon arrival, they taped his mouth shut to silence his screams before throwing him into the pit. The group then mercilessly filled the pit with soil, burying him alive.
With the crime concealed beneath layers of earth, Hardeep believed he had committed the perfect murder. But what he didn&rsquo;t anticipate was the relentless pursuit of justice.
The Investigation Breakthrough
The case officially began on January 3, when a missing person complaint was filed at Shivaji Colony Police Station. However, with no immediate leads, the case initially went cold.
Months later, a breakthrough came when investigators traced Jagdeep&rsquo;s last phone calls, uncovering crucial links to Hardeep and his associate Dharampal. The two were taken into custody, and during intense interrogation, they confessed to the gruesome killing.
On March 24, exactly three months after the murder, authorities recovered Jagdeep&rsquo;s remains from the pit. His body was sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic experts are now working to confirm the precise cause of death.
Justice Closing In
&ldquo;There are other suspects involved in this case, and their arrests will follow soon,&rdquo; said Kuldeep Singh, in charge of the Crime Investigation Agency unit.
As the investigation continues, the horrific crime has sent shockwaves through Rohtak and surrounding areas, serving as a grim reminder of the depths to which human rage can sink.
