Investigators looking into the rape and murder of the junior doctor at the RG Kar Medical College &amp; Hospital in Kolkata this past August are focusing on lapses in the post-mortem reports. To establish a theory of evidence tampering, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials are looking for discrepancies between the victim's autopsy and others conducted on the same day. They have sent several such reports to forensic experts, to identify any qualitative differences. The CBI is also scrutinizing the hospital&rsquo;s decision to breach standard protocol by conducting the autopsy after sunset. Additional concerns include the unusually short time for the autopsy and the poor quality of the video recording, which was taken under unusually dim lighting. The development comes after the deposition of a senior doctor who was on the team which conducted the post-mortem before a Sealdah court.&nbsp; Those familiar with the case say that there are two aspects to it: The actual rape and murder, and the "tampering and altering of evidence". 
Biological and other evidence has so far established civic volunteer Sanjay Roy as the &ldquo;sole prime accused&rdquo; in the rape and murder. Now, investigators are focusing on the second aspect. 
Circumstantial evidence points to the former and controversial principal of R.G. Kar, Sandip Ghosh, and the former SHO of Tala Police station Abhijit Mondal as the prime accused.
