A woman was allegedly assaulted by a Rapido bike taxi driver in Bengaluru&rsquo;s Jayanagar area near a footwear store three days ago after she confronted him over rash driving.
According to police sources, the situation escalated into a heated argument, which soon turned violent. A video, apparently recorded by a bystander, shows the driver slapping the woman with such force that she falls to the ground. Several people can be seen watching but not intervening.
Initially hesitant, the woman later agreed to file a complaint with police help. The Jayanagar Police registered a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) based on the complaint.
However, as the video of the incident began circulating widely on social media, officials are now considering converting the NCR into a formal FIR. Authorities at the Jayanagar Police Station have launched a detailed investigation and are trying to trace the accused driver.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over women's safety and the conduct of bike taxi drivers in urban areas.
