A disturbing case of alleged domestic abuse has emerged from Rajkot, where a young man, Pankesh Chhaya, reportedly attempted suicide after facing mental and emotional harassment from his wife and her family. According to police, the 25-year-old consumed poison following prolonged harassment and a hefty financial demand for divorce.
In a formal complaint to the police, Pankesh alleged that his wife, Sonal, refused to engage in marital relations since their wedding and frequently instigated arguments over trivial matters, causing him severe emotional distress. He further claimed that Sonal and her parents&mdash;Radhuben and Raymalbhai&mdash;threatened to falsely implicate him in legal cases unless he agreed to pay ₹25 lakh as a divorce settlement.
Unable to cope with the escalating pressure and harassment, Pankesh took the extreme step of consuming a toxic substance. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains under medical care. Authorities have confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the wife and her parents, and an investigation is currently underway.
