In two separate tragic incidents in Rajasthan, eight people&mdash;including four children&mdash;died in suspected cases of family suicide in the Sikar and Jaipur districts on Saturday.
In the first case, a woman and her four children were found dead inside a flat at Anirudh Residency on Palwas Road, under Sadar police station limits in Sikar.
According to Sadar police station in-charge Indraj Marodia, the cause of the suspected suicide is under investigation, and a forensic science team was called to collect evidence.
Police said the 34-year-old woman had divorced her first husband in 2019 and married again in 2020. 
After a dispute with her second husband, she had been living separately with her four children&mdash;two daughters aged 18 and 13, and two sons aged 5 and 3. 
The elder two were from her first marriage, while the younger ones were from her second marriage.
Neighbors alerted authorities after a foul smell began emanating from the flat. 
The bodies, found in a decomposed state, suggested the flat had been locked for nearly a week. 
Police also discovered suspected packets of poison at the scene. 
The bodies were sent to the district hospital mortuary for post-mortem, officials said.
In the second incident, in Jaipur&rsquo;s Karni Vihar area, a 63-year-old retired bank employee, his 58-year-old wife, and their 32-year-old son&mdash;a bank official&mdash;were found dead in their apartment. 
Their landlord contacted the police after the family failed to respond or open the door by late afternoon.
Karni Vihar police station in-charge Hawa Singh said police broke open the door and found the three deceased. 
They were taken to Kanwatia Hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths. 
A suicide note was recovered from the flat, and further investigation is underway.
