Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, has been named in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet in connection with a ₹150 crore Bitcoin scam. 
The agency has accused Kundra of money laundering, claiming he deliberately concealed evidence and failed to surrender 285 Bitcoins received from the late crypto-scam mastermind Amit Bhardwaj.
The chargesheet, filed before a special PMLA court, states that Kundra was the &ldquo;beneficial owner&rdquo; of the Bitcoins, contradicting his defense that he acted only as a mediator. 
The ED said the Bitcoins, valued at ₹150.47 crore, were intended for setting up a mining farm in Ukraine, but the deal never materialized, leaving Kundra in possession of the digital assets.
According to the ED, Kundra concealed Bitcoin wallet addresses, failed to disclose the transactions, and even carried out a transaction with Shilpa Shetty at below market value to disguise the origin of the funds. 
The agency alleged that he layered the proceeds of crime and projected them as legitimate.
The money-laundering case stems from FIRs filed by Maharashtra and Delhi Police against Variable Tech Pvt Ltd and members of the Bhardwaj family, who were accused of duping investors through the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi scheme. 
Investors were promised large returns through Bitcoin mining but were allegedly cheated as the promoters hid the assets in obscure wallets.
The ED said Kundra&rsquo;s claim of being a mediator is unsupported by documents, adding that an agreement signed with Mahender Bhardwaj actually confirmed his direct involvement with Amit Bhardwaj. 
His ability to recall the exact number of Bitcoins received in multiple tranches over seven years further reinforced his role as a beneficiary, the chargesheet noted.
Despite several opportunities since 2018, Kundra has not provided wallet addresses for the Bitcoins, citing a damaged iPhone X as the reason for lost details &mdash; a claim the ED dismissed as an attempt to destroy evidence. 
Another businessman, Rajesh Satija, has also been named in the chargesheet.
Kundra and Shilpa Shetty are additionally facing investigation in a separate ₹60.4 crore cheating case involving Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a now-defunct home shopping venture. 
The couple, then directors of the company, have been accused by the Economic Offences Wing of duping a businessman in a loan-cum-investment deal.
