In a significant intelligence-led crackdown, Amritsar Rural Police in Punjab arrested two men allegedly involved in espionage activities connected to Pakistan&rsquo;s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed on Sunday.
The suspects, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji and Sahil Masih alias Shali, were found to be sharing classified information with Pakistani handlers via pen drives. Investigators revealed that Gurpreet maintained direct communication with ISI operative Rana Javed. Two mobile phones believed to have been used for these exchanges were also seized.
DGP Yadav stated that the operation aims to dismantle the larger espionage-terror nexus and identify all collaborators. He reiterated Punjab Police&rsquo;s commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty.
Earlier this month, another ISI-linked agent, Gagandeep Singh, was arrested in Tarn Taran. He allegedly shared sensitive information about troop movements and strategic military positions during Operation Sindoor. Forensic analysis of his mobile devices revealed communications with over 20 ISI contacts and evidence of financial transactions from Pakistani handlers.
In a separate operation on June 21, Amritsar Commissionerate Police uncovered a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module led by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias Dharma Sandhu. Local operative Onkar Singh alias Nawab was arrested with six foreign-made pistols smuggled from Pakistan via drones.
Authorities believe these coordinated arrests have dealt a major blow to Pakistan-sponsored terror and spy networks operating in Punjab.
