A woman constable posted at Bisalpur police station in Pilibhit has filed a detailed complaint accusing her husband, also a constable stationed in Gautam Buddh Nagar, and her in-laws of dowry harassment, physical assault, and multiple attempts on her life. A case has been registered based on her allegations.
According to the complaint, she married Priyank Sharma of Meerut on January 26, 2023. She stated that her family spent nearly ₹50 lakh on the wedding, providing jewellery, electronics, furniture, and a car. However, her in-laws allegedly dismissed the gifts as inferior and began demanding a Scorpio vehicle within days of the marriage. When she refused, she claimed she was abused, threatened, and assaulted repeatedly.
The constable alleged that on September 5, 2024, she found her husband in an inappropriate situation with her sister-in-law. When confronted, she was reportedly beaten by family members and forced to consume a sanitiser-based substance, leaving her hospitalised.
She further said that during her pregnancy, she was pressured to consume medicines for gender selection. She alleged that assaults during this period caused complications, and her son, born on January 30, 2024, now suffers seizures.
The complaint also includes allegations of sexual assault. She stated that her brother-in-law had been trying to harass her and later raped her at gunpoint in Meerut on October 5, 2025, leading to a separate case at Kharkhauda police station.
Police confirmed that the main case has been registered under Sections 85, 115, 351, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with the Dowry Prohibition Act against her husband and his family members.
