The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Jatinder Singh alias Joti, a close associate of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa and gangster Pavittar Batala, in connection with a Punjab terror conspiracy case.
Jatinder, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab, was arrested in Mumbai on December 23, 2024, in case RC-21/2023/NIA/DLI. Investigations revealed he played a key role in the illegal procurement and supply of firearms from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab-based gangsters aligned with BKI.
The NIA said in its press release that Jatinder facilitated arms supply to Batala's operatives under coordination from foreign-based BKI handlers. The weapons were being used to further criminal and terrorist activities in Punjab.
Jatinder sourced the firearms from known arms dealer Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai, who has already been arrested and charge-sheeted. The network utilised virtual numbers and encrypted applications to evade law enforcement detection.
The case is part of a broader NIA crackdown on the terror-gangster nexus, which includes top terrorists like Lakhbir Singh Landa and Harwinder Singh alias Rinda. Landa, now based in Canada, was involved in the 2021 rocket attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence HQ in Mohali and has been declared a designated terrorist under UAPA.
The NIA continues to probe the international links and funding channels of the terror ecosystem operating from foreign soil.
