A mysterious death case has emerged in Siliguri, West Bengal, after the bodies of a married couple were discovered near the Sahu River on Sunday morning. The woman was found on the riverbank with her throat slit, while her husband was located around 200 metres away, hanging from a tree.
Local villagers spotted the bodies around 7 a.m. and alerted the police. The couple was identified as Tapan Mandal and his wife, Anima Mandal, residents of the Bholapara area. They had been married for nearly twenty years and were parents to two sons.
According to the police, there had been no reported disputes within the family, and both were known to return home at a fixed time after work. Tapan worked as a mason, and Anima was employed at a local factory.
Family members said they had been unable to contact the couple since Saturday evening, and searches were carried out in multiple locations before the tragic discovery.
Investigators are now examining whether the case involves a double murder or if the husband may have killed his wife before taking his own life. Police teams have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are exploring all possible angles to determine the motive and sequence of events.
