A gruesome murder case has shocked Punjab&rsquo;s Ludhiana after the mutilated body of a 30-year-old man was recovered from a vacant plot near a private school. Police discovered the remains on Thursday and have launched a detailed investigation to trace the circumstances leading to the killing.
The victim was later identified as Davinder. According to preliminary findings, his body had been cut into three parts. One portion appeared to have been partially burned, while the remaining parts were stuffed inside a white plastic barrel that was abandoned at the site.
Investigators revealed that Davinder had arrived in Ludhiana from Mumbai just two days before the body was found. He reportedly visited his house briefly for around 15 minutes before leaving again, after which he did not return.
Police suspect the involvement of a close acquaintance, identified as Shera, who lives in the same locality. CCTV footage reportedly shows Shera and another person transporting a drum believed to contain Davinder&rsquo;s body towards the empty plot. Both individuals are being questioned as part of the investigation.
Authorities believe the murder may have taken place at a different location and that the body was later dumped to destroy evidence. The motive behind the killing is still unknown.
The incident has heightened fear in the area, especially as it comes days after another unidentified, partially burned body was found in an open field under the Meharban police station limits. Police said efforts are ongoing to identify the victim and determine whether the two cases are connected.
