As first-year MBBS students returned to Al-Falah Medical College, the institution faced even greater scrutiny with authorities in Madhya Pradesh serving a demolition notice for the ancestral home of university founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui. The development adds to mounting pressure on an institution already at the centre of terror-related allegations and financial investigations.
The Military Headquarters of War (MHOW) Cantonment Board in Indore issued a notice on Thursday, directing Siddiqui&rsquo;s family to vacate their ancestral house within three days. Officials stated that the building, located in Mhow and registered under Siddiqui&rsquo;s late father, who served as the town&rsquo;s Shahar Qazi for nearly two decades, was declared illegal almost 30 years ago.
According to cantonment authorities, the property was originally held under a British-era residential grant. After its reconstruction in 1995-96, Siddiqui applied for registration and transfer of ownership, but the four-storey structure was deemed a violation of the Cantonment Act. Multiple notices were issued between 1996 and 1997, and a recent review reaffirmed its illegal status, prompting fresh action.

The demolition notice comes at a time when the Red Fort blast investigation has drawn national attention to Al-Falah University. The November 10 explosion, which resulted in multiple deaths, led investigators to three doctors linked to the university, including the alleged suicide bomber and two associates.
Separately, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Siddiqui earlier this week after searches across more than 25 locations in Delhi and Faridabad. The agency alleges the university amassed ₹415.1 crore in unlawful income at the expense of students. Siddiqui has been remanded to 13 days in ED custody.
In Madhya Pradesh, Indore Police have also accelerated action, arresting Siddiqui&rsquo;s brother in connection with several older cases involving fraud and rioting.

Despite the ongoing turmoil, first-year MBBS classes resumed on Thursday at the Faridabad campus under heightened police deployment. Parents from across northern states accompanied their children, expressing mixed feelings about returning amid uncertainty. Many said withdrawing now would jeopardise an academic year, but safety concerns remain strong.
Students shared that the university held counselling sessions to calm fears and advised them against engaging with outsiders or circulating unverified information. For many freshers, this marked their first real day of class after the Foundation Week that took place days before the blast.
The campus environment has shifted significantly, with around 900 MBBS students caught in a climate of caution and fear. Senior students said investigative teams visited several times during the week to question those who had attended classes conducted by the accused doctors.
The cascading issues, terror links, financial allegations, and now a demolition order have placed Al-Falah University under one of its most intense periods of scrutiny, leaving students, parents, and faculty navigating an atmosphere of uncertainty.
