In a chilling incident in Madhya Pradesh, a 14-year-old girl named Poonam Pal was discovered unconscious and severely injured aboard a moving train from Indore to Jabalpur. She was found with multiple cuts on her neck, hands, and other body parts. A fellow passenger alerted railway police, and she was immediately taken to a government hospital in Shujalpur.
Doctors confirmed the wounds were caused by a sharp object, possibly a knife or blade. Although there were no signs of sexual assault, the girl remained deeply traumatized, frequently crying out &ldquo;bacha lo mujhe&rdquo; (save me) upon regaining partial consciousness. She is currently under observation in the ICU, and her condition is stable.
Police confirmed that Poonam had been missing from her Jabalpur home since June 23. Her parents have been informed, and authorities are waiting for her to recover fully before recording her statement.
This disturbing case comes just days after another tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh, where a 19-year-old nursing student, Sandhya Choudhary, was murdered by her alleged jilted lover, Abhishek Kosti, inside a government hospital in Narsinghpur. The brutal act, caught on video, shows the attacker slashing her throat multiple times as stunned bystanders, including hospital staff, looked on helplessly.
Sandhya, the only child of a vegetable vendor, was targeted over alleged jealousy. The accused was arrested within an hour and confessed to the murder.
Both incidents have sparked outrage, once again drawing attention to rising violence against women and girls in the state.
