In a horrific incident in Jharkhand's Palamu district, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped while on her way to the train station. The victim was traveling with her younger sister when they were approached by two men at Daltonganj railway station who falsely identified themselves as police officers.
The men demanded the girls' personal information and took them on motorcycles to a secluded area in the Chainpur area. There, they allegedly assaulted the elder sister while threatening the younger one to stay silent.
Following the assault, the men attempted to transport the girls to another location. However, near Saddiq Manzil Chowk, the younger sister courageously jumped off the bike and screamed for help, alerting nearby residents.
The residents quickly informed the police, who responded by cordoning off the area and arresting the two suspects, identified as Sonu Kumar and Sumit Kumar Soni. The victim was taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital for a medical examination.
The accused have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The incident has led to public outrage, with the victim's family demanding severe punishment for the perpetrators. The arrested men have been remanded to judicial custody, and the case will be pursued urgently to ensure justice is served.
