Close on the heels of the tragic Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Meghalaya that shook the nation, another shocking incident has emerged from Bengaluru. A software professional allegedly stabbed his married lover 17 times, killing her, after she began distancing herself due to her husband's suspicions.
The incident took place recently in an OYO hotel room located in Poornaprajna Layout, under the jurisdiction of the Subramanyapura Police Station, police confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Harini, while the accused has been named as Yashas, a techie by profession.
According to police sources, Harini, a mother of two, was engaged in an extramarital relationship with the accused. Investigations revealed the two had met at a fair, exchanged phone numbers, and later began a romantic and physical relationship.
As the affair progressed, Harini&rsquo;s husband grew suspicious, confiscated her phone, and restricted her movements. Months later, Harini managed to contact Yashas and agreed to meet him.
Police said that on 6 June, the two met and checked into the hotel. After becoming intimate, the accused allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Subramanyapura police have registered a case and arrested the accused. During interrogation, Yashas confessed that he killed Harini as she had started avoiding him. Further investigation is underway.
This murder adds to a disturbing pattern of recent violent crimes in Bengaluru.
In January 2024, 39-year-old Suchana Seth, CEO of a Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence startup, was arrested on charges of murdering her son and carrying his body in a suitcase. The case sent shockwaves across the country and sparked debate over psychological breakdowns among professionals.
Similarly, on 12 January 2011, a 31-year-old software engineer, Santosh Sarade, working with Infosys, took his own life after killing his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, reportedly due to professional stress and depression.
