In yet another case of impersonation, police in Devbhumi Dwarka have arrested a 25-year-old man, Jeel Panchmatiya, for posing as an Additional Collector and Additional District Magistrate (ADM). He used a fake designation plaque and a red beacon on his car to pass off as a high-ranking government officer.
Acting on suspicion during a patrol on March 21, traffic police stopped a Maruti Celerio with a number plate that read Addl. Collector &amp; Addl. District Magistrate (Probation) and had a government-style red beacon. Upon investigation, authorities found that Jeel Panchmatiya had no official position and was misusing the title for personal gain. The police seized the vehicle and arrested him, along with a woman named Kesha Desai from Rajkot, who was accompanying him.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Kesha Desai, originally from Junagadh and currently undergoing training in Rajkot&rsquo;s SPIPA institute, was also involved in the deception. The duo allegedly roamed around flaunting the fake designation for influence and intimidation.
Police have registered a case against the duo. They are investigating whether the accused engaged in any illegal activities, who provided them with the fake vehicle plaque and government-style beacon, and if they have a criminal history.
Authorities are also probing why family or acquaintances never questioned them despite the publicly displayed fake designation on the car.
Further investigations are ongoing.
